5 Baking Hacks With Glad Press’n Seal

One of my goals with the blog in 2019 is to share more baking tips with you rather than just recipes. There are a lot of fundamentals when it comes to baking, but you’ll feel comfortable enough to conquer any recipe once you have the basics down! Okay, maybe not any recipe. There are still some that intimidate me! I’m a self-taught baker and have learned through trial and error. Trust me, there have been plenty of fails! However, over the years I’ve come across many tips and tricks that make baking much easier. A few of these involve Glad® Press’n Seal®!

Glad Press’n Seal is a very versatile item to keep in your kitchen. It’s traditionally used for food storage, but it’s also helpful in a variety of other situations. It uses Griptex technology to seal to almost any surface, including plastic, wood, and metal. I especially like that it sticks so easily to itself because it makes covering balls of dough and other weird-shaped objects so simple. I pick it up at Target since I’m there at least once a week anyways (I mean, how else are you going to find the best clearance items?!). Our Target in Destin recently got remodeled, and it’s AMAZING! I especially love the updated grocery area, beauty aisles and Dollar Spot. If you don’t live near a Target, you can also purchase it online here.

Here are a few of my Glad Press’n Seal hacks:

{1} Cover the counter so that you have a clean surface to work on. This also makes cleanup a breeze because you can just throw it away rather than cleaning off a marble pastry slab or your countertop.

{2} Cover your phone to keep it clean. Oftentimes I’m reading a recipe from my phone as I bake, so it inevitably ends up covered in flour and powdered sugar. Glad Press’n Seal sticks to the glass and still lets me see the recipe and tap the screen.

{3} Cover your refrigerator shelves so it’ll be easier to clean if ingredients spill. One of my least favorite chores is cleaning out the fridge, especially washing the shelves once something sticky spills! Covering them makes that process much easier.

{4} Cover ingredients until you’re ready to use them. If you plan on prepping some ingredients ahead of time, you can use Glad Press’n Seal to keep them fresh. It’s leak-proof, so I use it when chilling the mixture for homemade ice cream!

{5} Wrap dough while it chills in the refrigerator. Glad Press’n Seal is much tighter than plastic wrap or foil and since it sticks so easily to itself, it’s perfect for wrapping cookie or pie dough.
