If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that I’m all about versatile pieces. When you have clothes and accessories that can be worn multiple ways you save money in the long run since you can create so many different looks. Plus I love the chic, minimalist outfits that you can make with neutral pieces. Below I’m talking about 5 closet staples that can be worn year-round and I’d love to hear about your must-have items in the comments!

5 CLOSET STAPLES YOU NEED YEAR-ROUND

  1. Distressed denim. I pretty much live in skinny jeans and tend to wear my distressed styles most often. This pair of slim boyfriend jeans has the blown-out knees, which I’m obsessed with right now. The placement is perfect because I don’t feel like I’m making the holes bigger when I sit down or bend my knees. They are really soft and comfy, so I’ve been living in them lately. And right now they are ON SALE for only $35! You can see how I dressed them up slightly in this post.
  2. White Blouse. I don’t think it’s possible to have too many white blouses in your closet. They are simple yet chic and create a crisp look. I got this white blouse from Tobi (c/o) and love the chiffon fabric and drapey front. It’s only $50 and comes in 3 other colors, too. I dressed it down with distressed denim in this outfit, but I’m excited to dress it up with black skinny jeans and heels for a night out.
  3. Everyday handbag. I’m bad about switching out my purses, so I love handbags that go with everything. This cognac-colored crossbody bag (also styled here) is perfect for running errands or going out to dinner. It’s large enough to hold my phone, wallet, sunglasses and more, but slim enough that it doesn’t feel like I’m lugging around a large tote.
  4. Loafer Mules. I was on the hunt for some Gucci lookalikes and finally came across a Steve Madden pair that was almost identical, but for a fraction of the price. The flat slip-on style is really comfortable and they can be dressed up or down. They looked really cute in the winter with skinny jeans and an oversized sweater and for spring they look adorable with dresses or shorts. I’ve seen a ton of similar styles come out over the last few months, so there are plenty of options under $50!
  5. High-quality sunglasses. When I lived in Seattle I opted for cheap $12 pairs since I didn’t need them too often, but now that I wear them on a daily basis here in Vegas I decided a nice pair would be worth the splurge. I bought these Ray-Bans on Black Friday when they were 30% off and have been wearing them ever since! The quality is hard to beat. I was nervous about spending a lot on sunglasses since I have lost and broken some before, but I take much better care of them because of the heftier price tag. I still buy less expensive pairs if I want to try out a trendy style, but these classic aviators were definitely worth the investment.
