‘Tis the season for gifts and baking! For my fist gift guide I wanted to share some items that the bakers in your life will love! It might be tempting to get the festive bakeware you see in the holiday section of your favorite stores, but try to avoid these seasonal items. Sure they’re cute, but serious bakers don’t want a cookie mix in a mason jar or a snowflake print spatula with a matching cookie cutter (trust me, I have plenty of those!). The best gifts for bakers are quality items that are kitchen staples. Over the past couple of years I’ve been trying to create a collection of baking basics, from pans ands cookie sheets to decorating supplies and ingredients. This is the time of year when I ask for items that I don’t have and wouldn’t necessarily treat myself to. Of course these fancy vanilla extracts would be fun to bake with, but I can still make great desserts with the basic vanilla from a grocery store. Also, I’d love to buy every cookbook for my favorite bloggers (like Tieghan’s from Half Baked Harvest) but those add up quick! My best advice when gifting to a baker is to get something to help round out their baking “wardrobe.” Just like classic skinny jeans are a cornerstone for your closet, quality bakeware and utensils are a must for success in the kitchen.
