Spring Beauty Buys

spring-2016-beauty-buys

In the spirit of spring cleaning and fresh starts, I decided it was about time to add some new products to my makeup collection. Since my tan from our cruise is quickly fading, I wanted to find a good bronzer to make up for the fact that I’m sitting at a desk all day instead of soaking up rays poolside (with SPF, of course!). I also love trying new lip colors because they can easily make a big difference in your overall appearance. Then last but not least: mascara! This is one beauty product that I can’t get enough of. I wear it on a daily basis and enjoying trying the many different types that are out on the market. These three items are definitely going to be on repeat this spring!

smashbox-bronzer

Smashbox Bronze Lights in warm matte. Bronzer is a must with my fair skin tone, esspecially when you live in the sun-soaked desert! I was inspired to give this product a try after reading about Emily’s favorite bronzers on Cupcakes and Cashmere. She raved about how natural it looks and I couldn’t agree more! It gives my skin a nice sun-kissed glow without looking orange. Plus it’s easy to apply and blends really well to gradually build color.

stila-patina

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina. I’m kind of a lipstick newbie, so I like trying different types of lip color to see what works best for me. It’s amazing how a little color on your lips can brighten your entire look, but I hate having to reapply it so often. When I saw this liquid lipstick I was intrigued by the “Stay All Day” part of the name. After giving it a try, I was very pleased to find that the color is  long lasting and I actually liked it better as the day went on since the color wasn’t as intense. It feels lightweight and doesn’t dry out my lips even though it has a matte finish. Plus the pinkish berry shade works well with my pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes.

too-faced-mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in Carbon Black. Sometimes I’m wary of products that have crazy names like this because I feel like it’s more of a marketing ploy than a quality item. However, I’ve read some great reviews and decided this volumizing mascara was worth trying. Overall I was really impressed! The shape of the wand coated my lashes really evenly without being clumpy and it created nice volume and length.
