5 Best Blogging Resources

There is much more than meets the eye when it comes to blogging. I’m constantly researching and learning about all of the different aspects, from setting up an email list to editing photos and everything in between. What I find most helpful is getting advice from other bloggers because they’ve been in your shoes and know how the community works. Recently I’ve talked to a couple of friends who are interested in starting their own blogs, so I thought these blogging resources might be helpful for other readers, too!

White Oak Creative. I bought my Wordpress theme from Lindsay at White Oak Creative and I’m so impressed by the design and her customer service! There have been several occasions since installing my theme where I have emailed her with questions that have stumped me for days, but she has a solution that’s as easy as unchecking a Jetpack feature. She also has very informative blog posts that cover all sorts of blogging topics!

The Blog Societies. I’ve been a member of this national blogging group for a few years now. It’s a great way to learn from other bloggers and get some exposure for yourself when they share your posts on the website or social media. The co-founders, Jessica from My Style Vita and Cathy from Pool Little It Girl, also write posts with great blogging tips! They recently hosted the 4th Annual Blog Societies Conference in Charleston, South Carolina which looks like an amazing event to attend!

#GIRLBOSS book and podcast. This isn’t directly related to blogging, but it is motivational and shows that if you work hard and are creative you can accomplish a lot! The book is written by Sophia Amoruso, the founder of Nasty Gal, and shares the story of how she created a million dollar company from nothing. She also hosts weekly podcasts where she interviews a “GIRL BOSS” each week. Whether it’s the female founder of a popular LA restaurant, CEO of ClassPass or Global Editor-In-Chief of Refinery29, all of the women she interviews are so inspirational. A lot of the conversation has to do with marketing and entrepreneurship, which can definitely be applied to blogging as a business.

Blogging 4 Keeps. This blog is written by two bloggers, Blair from The Fox & She and Jess from The Golden Girl. It has a lot of great information about turning your blog into a business. In addition to helpful posts, they also have a library of resources you’ll have access to when you subscribe, like a blog & social growth tracker, Pinterest audit checklist and monthly brainstorming master sheet.

Thrifts and Threads. Although this is primarily a fashion blog, Brittany and her husband share great blogging tips about once a week. I especially like her posts about growing your Instagram following/engagement, gaining email subscribers and SEO fundamentals. Not only do I love her sense of style, but I also admire her as a blogger because she stays true to herself. I never feel like she’s trying to push a product and she seems like a very nice, authentic person.
