Happy Friday Jr.! Rob has been in San Diego for work this week and I’ve been loving the “me” time. Although I miss him when he’s gone, I enjoy binge watching my favorite TV shows, spending more time working on the blog and not cooking dinner! Anyone else sometimes have cereal or scrambled eggs for dinner when your significant other isn’t home?! I hate cooking for just myself. However, as I’m putting together this post I’m getting real hungry—maybe I should cook a full, well-balanced meal tonight haha. A couple of weeks ago we had a fun date night to a new seafood restaurant called Slick Lips. OMG it was delicious! First of all, how pretty are those cocktails?! And they taste just as good as they look! We started with the chargrilled oysters and smoked cheddar bacon bombs, which were both amazing. I had a hard time choosing a main course, but ultimately decided on the bacon-wrapped Amberjack and didn’t regret it for a second! It was so flavorful, cooked perfectly and served with a sweet potato hash Let’s be real, that was the main selling point because I looooove sweet potato anything! Rob enjoyed the lemongrass crusted tuna, which is topped with a tasty avocado and watermelon salsa! Of course we also ordered dessert—the white chocolate raspberry bread pudding was calling my name and WOW! So good.
Since the restaurant is pretty casual and it was a Tuesday night, I didn’t want to get too dressed up. During the summer I pretty much live in cutoff shorts and this high-waisted pair from Abercrombie is the best! I like the black color and distressed details, plus the fit is amazing. I styled them with this pink sweater tank from Madewell, which I picked up while I was in Seattle (Destin desperately needs a Madewell! And Nordstrom. and Trader Joe’s. Then I’d be set!). The mix of textures creates a fun look and this statement bag is the perfect finishing touch. It’s a great knockoff of the Cult Gaia clutch, which will cost you almost $200. This under $50 option is much more my style! Overall I think this is a fun, casual look that is perfect for a variety of occasions!
