Chocolate Peppermint Waffle Cone Bowls

Ice cream might not be a traditional holiday treat, but when you live by the beach it’s still a popular dessert any time of year. To make your sundae slightly more festive, try making these DIY waffle cone bowls! They are really easy and you only need three ingredients! I purchased waffle cone bowls from the store to make things simple. Then you’ll just need melted chocolate and crushed candy canes (or holiday sprinkles!). It’s a great activity for kids and you could set up a sundae station where they can pick their flavor and toppings. I used vanilla gelato from Franzese, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and crushed candy canes. Adding brownies at the bottom would also be delicious! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 box waffle cone bowls
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes or peppermints

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. It's best if it's a bowl slightly larger than the waffle cones. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat until smooth.

  2. Place crushed candy canes in a shallow dish that is slightly larger than the waffle cone bowls. Set aside.

  3. Dip the edges of the waffle cone in the melted chocolate, then the crushed peppermint. Let cool until chocolate hardens. Fill with ice cream and add your favorite toppings!
