Fall Fashion Trends 2016

fall-fashion-trends-2016

For this week’s Tuesday Trends post, I wanted to give an overview of some fall fashion trends that I think will be big this upcoming season. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is the best way to get an idea of what you’ll see in magazines, on your favorite bloggers and in other stores. Not every trend you see is brand-new; a lot of styles from summer and the previous years have been adapted to look seasonal and have an updated feel. For example, lace-up tanks and bodysuits have been popular this summer and this fun detail can now be seen on sweaters and shirt dresses. Also, burgundy is back in a big way (as it typically is every autumn). The pieces below are all part of the #Nsale, so take advantage of the new arrivals having reduced prices! Just click on each item to shop/see more details.

Shirtdresses are great for transitioning into fall because they look so cute with bare legs and booties! Plus when the weather starts cooling down they can be worn with tights, boots and a cozy scarf. There are quite a few style: sleeveless, lace-up, plaid, denim, etc. The first two pictured are part of Madewell’s collection, so you know they’ll be high quality! They always have really classic, versatile pieces with a trendy edge.

I haven’t bought a backpack since my Northface one back in college, but there are so many stylish ones this year that I couldn’t resist! I snagged this one from Sole Society and can’t wait to use it on our upcoming trips to Wyoming and Nashville. That way I can don’t have to worry about carrying a purse while I take a million photos ;) It’s on sale for $29.90 and will go up to $44.95 on August 8. The brown color and tassel details were exactly what I was searching for because it has a chic, simple look!

Shoes, shirts, dresses… you name it! This style was really popular over the summer and will continue to be throughout fall. The Halogen lace-up flats are beautiful (especially the burgundy and leopard pairs!). If I didn’t already have three pairs of lace-up flats in my closet, I would definitely snatch these up! You can see how I styled mine here and here. What I love most is that they have a dressy look while still be super comfortable. I’m also eyeing this sweater. How cute would it be with distressed skinny jeans and over the knee boots?!

This rich shade of red is popular every fall and winter, and this year is no exception! It mixes perfectly with the other neutrals in my closet, like black, tan, olive and blush. Remember this lace dress from last year?! It’s still one of my favorites and will blend right in with my new purchases.
