Faux Fur in Fort Collins

Here’s the recipe for an easy, put-together outfit:

Plaid Flannel + Faux Fur Vest + Skinny Jeans + Boots

While in Laramie, we took a day trip to Fort Collins, Colorado and it was the perfect excuse to wear this cozy faux fur vest. I like how it adds some glam to a plaid flannel shirt and since it wasn’t too cold yet, a big, puffy coat wasn’t necessary. Also, if you can’t tell, I’m slightly obsessed with these over the knee boots (also featured here and here). They are just so chic and comfy—perfect for exploring this cute downtown area! We shopped, had lunch and sampled cheese, chocolate and beer. Below are some of my favorite stops.

Our first stop was lunch at Backcountry Delicatessen. I had their summit sandwich made with smoked ham, French brie, honey cured bacon, cranberry chutney and chipotle mayo—amazing! It was the perfect fuel for a fun day. Plus I loved their rustic, yet modern atmosphere.

At Nuance Chocolate we tried two flights of their artisanal chocolates. They were all delicious and I liked reading the descriptions of each piece because you can really tell a difference between the unique flavors. I was surprised that I liked some of the milk flavors more than the dark. We also sampled a few truffles, which were smooth and creamy just as the perfect truffle should be.

Right next door is The Welsh Rabbit Cheese Shop. Chocolate AND cheese?! Yes please. Rob had been raving about some of their cheeses ever since he tried them in September, so I was excited to check it out. They have some really unique flavors and we bought a few to have with our Christmas Eve dinner. I also enjoyed looking at the jams, pastas and other food items to pair with the cheeses.

There are a lot of cute boutiques in Downtown Fort Collins, so I loved seeing  new fashions. Sunday Supply Co. had a lot of chic clothes and home/gift items with a modern, minimalist style. I also checked out Magnolia Moon, which was full of trendy pieces. My mother-in-law and I went into a lot of home decor stores too while we left Rob and his dad outside. They were good sports :)

Last but not least, was Odell Brewing Co. Their Easy Street beer might be one of Rob’s all-time favorite beers. He and his dad each got a pilot flight, which consists of their small-batch beers that aren’t for sale yet. I also picked up a four-pack of Lugene, their chocolate milk stout. I’m not a huge beer drinker, but I LOVE a good stout in the winter!

Overall it was a very fun and festive day full of my favorite things!
