My Favorite Treats, Trends and Travels of 2017

This year and holiday season have flown by! We are currently in Laramie, Wyoming with Rob’s family and I’m hoping for a white Christmas. It’s going to be -16 degrees, so we better get some snow if I’m going to suffer those cold temps! This will probably be my last post of the year, so I wanted to share some of my favorite treats, trends and travels from 2017. It’s been an exciting year for us with lots of changes—like moving to Destin and buying a house! We also went on some amazing trips and I hope to travel even more in 2018.

I also want to say thanks to you, my Treats and Trends readers! Without you this blog wouldn’t be possible :) I appreciate every comment, view, follow, like, etc.! If you have any suggestions or content ideas for next year please let me know in the comments. I want to make sure all of my posts inspire or help you in some way! Enjoy the rest of 2017 and have a happy New Year!

MY FAVORITE TREATS

4th of July Funfetti Cupcakes
This funfetti recipe is very versatile and can be used for a variety of holidays! Just switch out the red, white and blue sprinkles accordingly.

Chocolate Hazelnut Macarons
It took me a few tries, but I finally made some macarons that turned out well! This flavor combo is one of my favorites.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
You can’t go wrong with this classic combo! This pie would be a perfect holiday party dessert.

Cookies ‘n’ Cream Cake
This drip cake has layers of chocolate cake and Oreo buttercream. Add firework oreos for an extra spark!

Fruity Pebbles Sugar Cookie Bars
I’ve made these sugar cookie bars a few times now, but I love how they turned out with the Fruity Pebbles! Such a tasty and colorful treat.

Hummingbird Cupcakes
I didn’t think I was a hummingbird fan, but these cupcakes are so moist and the cream cheese frosting is amazing!

Mexican Hot Chocolate Cupcakes
Chocolate and cinnamon is my new favorite flavor combo! This light, fluffy buttercream also goes well with brownies!

Peppermint Chunk Brownies
This is my go-to brownie recipe because they are rich and fudgy! Since the recipe doesn’t call for flour there are more dense than your typical brownies.

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Brown Butter Buttercream
Pumpkin and brown butter—two of my favorite things! Even Rob liked these and he thinks pumpkin is overrated.

Salted Peanut Butter Brownies
Another example of how peanut butter and chocolate always pair perfectly!

S’mores Bars
No need for a campfire when you have these easy cookie bars! Soft and gooey!

MY FAVORITE TRENDS

Blush and Olive Work Outfit
Office-appropriate outfits can sometimes be boring, but this look proves that trendy pieces can be worn to work.

Geometric Lace Midi Dress
This was the perfect wedding guest dress! I also wore it to my friend’s rehearsal dinner.

The Perfect Black Lace Dress
I need more dressy occasions in my life because this dress is too cute to hide in my closet.

Pink Ruffle Sleeve Jacket
This is the Jamie-est jacket I’ve ever seen!

Ruffle Gingham Shorts
These feminine shorts combine two of my favorite styles: ruffles and gingham.

Spring Brunch Outfit
One of the many ways I wear white jeans.

Sweater Dress with Over the Knee Boots
OTK boots are here to stay!

Tie Front T-shirt
I wear this T-shirt year-round because it’s perfect for layering or wearing by itself. The knot in the front makes it anything but basic!

White Bell Sleeve Top
This trendy top was from the Who What Wear line at Target. A lower price point makes me feel more comfortable about trying new trends!

White Lace Skirt with Gingham Top
If this doesn’t scream summer picnic then I don’t know what does!

MY FAVORITE TRIPS

San Diego, CA
I tagged along on one of Rob’s work trips and we had such a fun time!

Newport, RI
We went here before a friend’s wedding in Connecticut and it was so charming and cute!

Austin, TX
Rob and I met up with some friends in Austin and had an amazing time exploring the city! We also stopped in Waco to see Fixer Upper’s Magnolia.

Lake Chelan, WA
My family would go to Lake Chelan every summer growing up and this year I finally got to show Rob one of my favorite places ever!

Asheville, NC
So many great restaurants and breweries!

Biloxi, MS
My family came to visit for my birthday and we took a quick trip to Biloxi for a concert.

New Orleans
Since it’s only 4 hours away from Destin Rob and I decided to take a weekend road trip and explored this fun city.

Brevard, NC
The perfect Friendsgiving getaway to the mountains.

Road trip from Las Vegas to Destin, FL
We took 5 days to drive to our new home and stopped at some cool places along the way.
