Happy New Year! For my first post of 2017, I’m sharing one of my favorite Christmas presents: Hunter boots! You might be thinking, “Jamie, don’t you live in the desert?” And the answer is yes, yes I do. And it hardly ever rains here in Las Vegas. However, I think I will still get a lot of use out of them since they are versatile, season-less footwear and have been in style for almost a decade (basically every girl on campus wore them with lululemon yoga pants and The North Face vests back in my UW college days). Somehow I’ve never owned a pair, so I asked Santa, aka my parents, for the tall, matte black pair for Christmas this year. While we were visiting them in Seattle over the holidays, I ended up opening them early because I was not prepared for the snow/slush/rain. I only packed suede OTK boots and my favorite flats—bad choices for the sloppy weather. Needless to say I wore my new Hunter boots almost every day while we were there. For rain boots, they are very slimming and chic.

For an afternoon of visiting friends and checking out some breweries in Woodinville, I styled them with skinny jeans, a cozy sweater and my pink Barbour jacket. This jacket was one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases last summer and I love the girly touch that it adds to every winter outfit! Plus it’s lightweight, but still really warm (you can see how I styled it with white jeans for fall here). Classic coats are definitely worth investing in, especially if they are high quality. This style is timeless and the pink color is surprisingly versatile, so I know I will wear it for years to come. In my New Year, New Closet guide, the 5th step is to know when to treat yourself. I’m all about finding good deals, but you get what you pay for when it comes to certain items. Another step in my eBook is to look for sales and this sweater and my jeans were part of the Nordstrom sale, too (it’s the best time to buy designer denim!) I’ve been living in this cozy turtleneck lately and this pair of Joe’s is a staple year-round. Tucked in skinny jeans aren’t the only way to wear Hunter boots in winter. I love how Julia from Gal Meets Glam styles hers with skirts and dresses—they seriously go with everything! It doesn’t even need to be raining to wear these boots. They are perfect for locations that might be muddy, dusty or covered in wet leaves. Luckily the rain held out while we were taking these photos ;)
I’ve always wanted a pair too, but living in the OC…just never thought I’d get much use out of them either! But now you’ve inspired me to maybe grab a pair and wear them just when it’s cold out! :)

Yay! They are perfect for traveling and quick weekend road trips to the mountains, too!
They’re so chic though and I definitely think they work to a lot of different outfits, even if it’s not raining! Love that they’re matte too, such a chic and simple detail! Have a lovely 2017! Xx
