Our Napa trip wasn’t as wine-focused as most visitors’. Although we did go on a tour and explored a couple wineries, we spent a lot of our time just walking around the downtown area and eating (shocking, I know!). We stayed at an amazing B&B-style inn called Hotel Napa Valley. It included a three-course breakfast, complimentary wine tasting and desserts at night. Plus, they greeted us with a chilled bottle of Champagne and an upgraded room since it was our honeymoon!
Our hotel was just blocks away from Downtown Napa, so we took a scenic walk along the river one night to have dinner at Angéle Restaurant & Bar. The French brasserie serves refined bistro fare and was our one “fancy” meal on the trip. I had the dayboat scallops, which were served with red wine fragile and a carrot emulsion. I wasn’t sure what those last two ingredients were, but everything was delicious! Rob ordered the whole roasted branzino, which looked too much like the actual fish for my liking. It tasted great though!
We also drove through Sonoma and walked around Town Square. The cute storefront of Sweet Scoops caught my eye, so I had to check it out. The homemade ice cream looked so refreshing since it was 100 degrees outside. We shared a mint chocolate chip cone, which hit the spot!
Another favorite find was Oxbow Public Market, which would be a great place to pick up some wine and cheese for a picnic! And if you’re a beer fan, take a break from the wine and try a flight at Carneros Brewing Company (in Sonoma). We loved their sour beers and the stout!
Any suggestions for our next trip to Napa?! I’d love to hear about your favorite spots :)
looks like a wonderful time!
