When I worked in food PR, I knew the dates for all of these silly food holidays. They were great for pitches since so many media outlets would put together roundups of the celebrated dishes. National S’mores Day was always a big one because a few of our restaurants had tasty variations of this summer staple. I can see why this delicious day falls during the dog days of summer—the chocolate, graham cracker and marshmallow combo is always a bonfire/BBQ classic. I’ve made a few treats that are a twist on this delicious dessert (s’more puppy chow and s’more cupcakes with Nutella frosting), but I can’t wait to also give these recipes a try!
