Happy Friday! First off I want to say thank you so much for the kind words and support with my YouTube channel launch! It’s always nerve-wracking to put yourself out there but all of the positive feedback was amazing to hear! I can’t wait to create more video content for you, so please leave a comment with some topics you’d like me to cover related to fashion and baking. There’s a new video up today about how to make these browned butter cinnamon sugar doughnuts. Not every recipe I make will be accompanied by a video because honestly they aren’t easy to make and I don’t want filming to take the joy out of baking. Sometimes I want to make cookies without doing my makeup or worrying about how the lighting is in the kitchen, ya know? My plan is to put up a new video every Friday, whether it’s a recipe, fashion haul, etc. so I’ll keep you updated on the blog/social media or you can subscribe to be notified by email.
Now for today’s recipe! If you’re looking for a delicious weekend treat definitely give these browned butter cinnamon sugar doughnuts a try! They pair perfectly with a cup of coffee, your sweat pants and a messy topknot. I love classic cake doughnuts, so I made a baked version with browned butter. Melting/browning the butter gives it a nice nutty flavor, which really fancies up the recipe. To enhance this flavor I even brushed the finished doughnuts with more browned butter and dipped them into a cinnamon-sugar mixture. They are pretty easy to make and you probably have most of the ingredients in your pantry already! Hope you like them and have a wonderful weekend!

Servings |
12 doughnuts
|
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 2 cup cake flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Ingredients
For the doughnuts
|
|
- Preheat oven to 350F. Use nonstick spray to lightly grease the doughnut pan.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Swirl pan occasionally so that the butter is cooking evenly. When it starts to have a nutty aroma and turns a golden brown color, remove from stove and transfer to a heatproof bowl to cool.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
- In a large bow, whisk the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and butter until combined. Gently fold in the dry ingredients and mix just until smooth. Transfer to a piping bag and cut off the tip. Evenly fill the prepared doughnut pan about 3/4 of the way full. Bake for about 10 minutes, until firm. Transfer to cooling rack for a few minutes while you prepare the topping.
- Brown the butter as you did in the first step. While it's melting, mix together the sugar, cinnamon and allspice.
- Brush browned butter onto the doughnuts, then dip them into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Repeat until all have been coated. Enjoy!

This looks absolutely amazing, girlie! I do have a question, since I have everything in my kitchen needed to make this, with the exception of the buttermilk, do you have to use cake flour or can all purpose work? Thanks so much for sharing this, you never fail at sharing such delicious looking treats! I hope you have a great weekend!

> JalisaHi Jalisa! I’m so sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. I haven’t tried this recipe with all purpose flour, although I have made other doughnuts with it and they were good! If you have cornstarch at home this is an easy way to make your own cake flour: http://bit.ly/2oyP515
