Summer to Fall Outfit and Hurricane Irma Update

Well, we survived our first hurricane as Florida residents! As I’m writing this on Monday morning we are still in the midst of Tropical Storm Irma, so hopefully I don’t have to make any edits to this! Destin is in northwest Florida, so thankfully we avoided most of the hurricane. My heart goes out to southern Florida and the Caribbean though—I can’t imagine how scary and devastating that would be! The most stressful part of the hurricane for us was not knowing. Would it shift and put Destin directly in its path? How strong would the storm be when it got to northern Florida? How much preparation do we need to do? Should I be worried that I’m not that worried? There were a few houses in our neighborhood that boarded up their windows and lots of stores were sold out of bottled water, gas cans and generators. We stocked up on water and non-perishable foods, filled our cars with gas in case we needed to evacuate and made sure our flashlights were charged, but with the projected path it didn’t seem like we would get hit very hard. Luckily it weakened and didn’t shift further west, so we just got a cozy day with light wind and rain. The cooler weather felt great and it gave me a chance to wear one of my favorite Nordstrom Anniversary Sale finds, this cozy Free People sweater! I’ve been wearing it with shorts, but can’t wait to start styling it with skinny jeans and booties when fall temperatures finally arrive. It has a comfy, slouchy fit and the gold color is really versatile. This exact one is currently sold out, but this one looks similar and just as cozy!
