When I first saw denim skirts coming back into style, I wasn’t sure if I’d be caught sporting that trend. They were a little too reminiscent of the Abercrombie & Fitch miniskirts I’d wear in high school (with an A&F or Hollister graphic tee and Old Navy flip flops—anyone else remember this classic teen look?!). However, as denim skirts have been reappearing in stores, I realized that there are more modern styles available. There are different cuts, colors and details that make them mature and chic. Denim doesn’t necessarily mean blue—I love white, black and olive green colors for a more untraditional look. Plus, the pencil and A-line styles add some fun, feminine flair. I recently bought a white button up pencil skirt from Madewell that I’ll be posting soon (although there’s a sneak peek in the cover photo)! To shop these pieces, click on the specific skirt image/name or the links listed below.
A-Line // Button Up
Utility Pockets // White Pencil // Black A-Line
Chambray // Distressed // Dark Denim Pencil
Great selection!

Thanks, glad you liked it!
I love the spin on the basic button down denim skirt. White denim is very chic. :]

Me too! I’m obsessed with white jeans, shorts, skirts, etc. right now!
Love the a-line, such a lovely 60’s vibe to them! Xx

I completely agree! It’s a fun style to wear year-round.
I definitely remember that look in high school! But I’m loving the white button up pencil skirt. It’s a fresh take on the old classic.

Agreed! I think there’s definitely a modern twist with the styles out now
maybe the button up or white like you have but the rest….def feel high school to me. that green utility pocket one. i feel like i def owned that in 2005. and i still have my denim skirt from high school i think (with a frayed hem) unless i JUST got rid of it in the packing….

I think it depends on how you style it. Like the green one would look really cute with a long sweater or vest, striped tee and cognac colored accessories.
