When Rob and I first found out we would be moving to Destin, Florida I had no idea what to expect weather-wise other than hot and sunny summers. Would it be warm year-round? Would I ever get to wear my cute winter coats?! I’m a west coaster (grew up in Seattle and lived in Las Vegas the last 4 years), so this part of the country is a whole new world to me. Before buying any new fall clothes I literally Googled “what to wear in Florida during fall.” As of mid-November I am happy to report that it does get cooler and less humid, so you can put away shorts and sandals!
Lately we’ve had highs around 70 degrees and lows in the 50s, so I’ve finally been able to wear jeans and light layers. By light layers I mean a T-shirt or long-sleeved tee with a jacket. The jacket isn’t really necessary for warmth, but it makes the outfit look much more complete and I’m not sweating to death! This “shacket” from Topshop has been ideal since it’s pretty thin and versatile. The olive color looks very chic with a classic striped top! Plus I like that the floral patches add a feminine touch to an otherwise masculine style. I’ve also traded my sandals in for cognac-colored booties most days! This pair is under $100, comfortable and goes with everything (I’ve also styled them with a shirtdress).

We shot these photos one evening at HarborWalk Village just before the sun was setting and a quick rain storm was rolling in. This time of year is amazing in Destin because it’s still warm enough to be outside, but it’s not packed with tourists. I enjoy walking by all of the boats along the docks and seeing the pretty views. We even saw some dolphins swimming in the harbor and a beautiful sunset! Overall I am loving our first fall in Florida!
Great style! I love that jacket!

Looking lovely dear! I Cute embroidery on your jacket. Also, yes, going from one place to another, with totally different climate is never easy.

Transitioning from one climate to another can definitely be difficult when styling an outfit. Love the pieces you’ve chosen here, the embroidered jacket pairs beautifully with the striped tee!
