Why Henderson Beach State Park is My Favorite Photo Shoot Location in Destin, Florida
When clients ask about photo shoot locations in Destin, I always suggest Henderson Beach State Park for several reasons. First of all, there are multiple settings to choose from: the beach, sand dunes and a nature trail. We can shoot at all three during your session in order to get a variety of backgrounds. Also, because there is a fee to enter the park (currently $6 per vehicle), these beaches are less crowded than if we were to meet at a public beach access. Another helpful feature is that there is plenty of parking. The park features two large lots, each with several covered pavilions that boast picnic tables, showers and bathrooms. From there, a short boardwalk will take you down to the sugar-white sand. Here are some photos I’ve taken at this gorgeous location!
The Beach
The beach is always the star attraction in Destin, Florida. Henderson Beach State Park offers the pristine white sand and gorgeous Gulf water that you know and love. We’ll get plenty of photos on the sand, but can also wade into the water for some fun action shots!
Sand Dunes
Many beaches in Destin, Florida feature stunning sand dunes, but I prefer the ones at Henderson Beach State Park because there aren’t any buildings behind them. If the beach we are shooting at is directly in front of your high-rise condo or beachfront vacation rental, that will inevitably show in the background. Here you’ll just see sea oats and sky!
Nature Trail
Henderson Beach State Park also offers a beautiful nature trail with white sand and greenery. This is a great alternative to beach photos. Plus it’s dog-friendly in case you want to include your pup in the family photos! We don’t walk too far onto the trail for your pictures, but if you want to do more exploring later the three-quarter mile trail meanders through the dunes and unique vegetation known as coastal scrub.
