I know a lot of people still deal with snow and cold temperatures this time of year (sorry family in Washington and Wyoming!), but once February hits here in Vegas we are usually seeing 60 or 70 degrees. I’ve been slowly transitioning my closet from winter to spring and wanted to wear this white denim skirt again since it’s no longer freezing. I styled it with striped T-shirts a lot during the summer (like here and here), but for a more season-appropriate look I stuck with light layers and booties. It’s such an easy skirt to throw on and I love the button-front style. If you want to winterize your white denim skirt, too, just keep these three tips in mind:
- Pair it with darker, neutral colors. For this look I styled it with earth tones such as brown, green and a pink/rust color. During the summer it would go well with bright floral prints or a neon pink top, but for now muted, neutral colors balance out the white skirt. Side note: if you don’t have an olive-colored utility jacket yet, I highly suggest you look into getting one! I wear mine with everything and was so excited to see that this one is back in stock for spring! I might have to scoop up the khaki or coral color, too, since it’s under $50 (and will probably go on sale knowing Old Navy).
- Balance out your bare legs with more layers on top. Since you’re showing some skin on the bottom half, try wearing a couple of layers on top. I tucked in my favorite tunic tee and then topped it with a lightweight jacket. A heavier knit cardigan or oversized sweater would look really cute with it, too.
- Keep your feet warm with booties. I have become a weather wimp and especially hate when my feet are cold, so I usually stick with booties this time of year. This pair has been one of my most-worn purchases this year and have held up really well for being only $38. If you want to make your legs look longer, I would suggest looking for booties dip low on the sides or in front. This continuation of skin can be more flattering than a boot that cuts off your legs. These perforated booties would be perfect, especially since they have a nice heel.
