Last weekend I spent three days at the Life is Beautiful festival in Downtown Las Vegas (as many as you know from my snapchat: treatsandtrends). My friend had an extra VIP ticket, so how could I turn down great food, fun street art and amazing performances?! The annual festival has something for everyone: concerts, art, great people watching and some of Vegas’ top restaurants and chefs. It was so fun to just sit in the grass, chat, eat and enjoy the bands whether I had heard of them or not.
Fashion
The festival grounds were swarming with girls in crop tops and bootie shorts. I, however, took a more conservative approach to festival fashion. It was really hot (100+ degrees), so I opted for loose dresses or boyfriend shorts. On Friday I came straight from work, so I switched my heeled booties for leopard-print sneakers and tied a chambray shirt around my waist in case it cooled down at night (it didn’t unfortunately…). The next day I went with denim shorts and a basic tank. Again, I brought a shirt (red plaid flannel) to tie around my waist and ended up using it as a blanket while sitting in the grass. My favorite look was on the third day, when I wore a white eyelet dress, olive-colored vest and gladiator sandals. We were also really excited about the complimentary flower crowns! That added the perfect touch to our festival fashion. And my must-have item for the weekend was a large tote to carry my camera, water bottles, etc.
Food
If I wasn’t at a show, you could find me in the culinary villages. There are so many local restaurants that set up booths and sell dishes that they are best known for. It was hard to choose where to go, but I ended up getting the fried chicken sandwich from Honey Salt, the bbq pulled pork sandwich from Pot Liquor and Asian fusion tacos from Dragon Grille. Then we also snacked on sushi and tempura shrimp from Nobu, Nutella macarons from Gimme Some Sugar and a frozen treat from Kuma Snow Cream. Keep in mind this was over three days, but I definitely needed to hit the gym after these indulgences (although I didn’t, ugh I’m terrible).
Art, etc.
Although I loved the food and the fashion, I think my favorite part of the festival was the street art! Not only does it make great outfit photo backgrounds (hehe, thanks Allie!), it also adds so much to the culture of DTLV. Some of the art is temporary, but most of it stays on the buildings downtown even after the festival is over. The performers were also great! I was looking forward to seeing Imagine Dragons (Las Vegas locals!) the most and they were amazing as always. I also really enjoyed Hozier, Meg Myers, Snoop Dogg (shockingly!) and the surprise performance by the Killers! The crowd went nuts when the whole band joined Brandon Flowers on stage. It was an amazing weekend and I can’t wait to go downtown again and see the art without all of the crowds.
You look so gorgeous in this white dress! It looks like a really cool and fun festival. Also love the photos!
