I often get asked about including pets in photo shoots and my answer is always yes! I’m a dog lover and completely understand that they are a part of the family. I was really excited when these parents-to-be wanted to bring their dog, Ash, to their maternity session. When your fur baby is about to share mom and dad with a real baby, it’s only fair to include them in the family photos :)
He was such a good boy and cooperated well for the camera. When it comes to photo shoots with dogs, I suggest bringing some treats and I can say some of their favorite words to get them to look at my lens. It can also be helpful to bring another person who can play with your pet while we take photos of just the couple or family.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on the beaches in Destin, so this limits our photo shoot locations. However, Henderson Beach State Park has a pretty nature trail that is dog-friendly. It features white sand and greenery, which makes a beautiful background.
