Whether you live in Las Vegas or you’re just visiting, there are times when you need to take your makeup from day to night without spending too much time or packing a lot of products. My husband and I don’t go to the Strip too often, but when we have friends or family in town we typically spend a full day there. Daytime activities are pretty casual, like touring the Neon Museum, relaxing by a hotel pool or shopping at Fashion Show, so I like to keep my makeup pretty natural looking. However, if we are going to a nice dinner, checking out a new bar or seeing a show, I want to create a more dramatic, bold look. The glamorous hotels and casinos always inspire me to up my beauty and fashion game! And here’s a local’s tip: check out the Las Vegas Deals page on vegas.com for discounts on anything from tours to shows so you don’t break the bank on all of the fun activities. Save the money  for more shopping and beauty products ;) Below are a few of my tips for easily transitioning your makeup from day to night. An eye shadow palette and a couple lipsticks are key!

DAY

I always keep my makeup pretty minimal and natural looking. For daytime I start with a lightweight foundation, typically the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless in classic ivory with some bareMinerals powder on top. Then I use a bronzer to add some color to my fair skin. After that, it’s all about the eyes. I start with a neutral eyeshadow, then add smoke-colored eyeliner and volumizing mascara. A few years ago I discovered the magic of filled-in brows, so I also use Anastasia brow gel in blonde, which helps my eyes pop. When it comes to lips, I stick with a rosy pink shade, such as Urban Decay’s “Liar” for a barely there look.

NIGHT

The easiest way to transition my makeup into the evening is by adding darker shades around my eyes and choosing a bolder lip color. Eyeshadow palettes are perfect for this because you can use the lighter shades during the day and then layer on the darker hues for night. The black ‘licorice’ color in this palette looks intimidating, but it’s perfect for using just above your lash line. This collection came in my FabFitFun box, but this Urban Decay Palette is almost identical. I also like to create a more dramatic look by switching my eyeliner pencil for a liquid liner. The Stila black liner goes on really nicely, even for liquid newbies like myself. Then I usually put another layer of mascara on for good measure. As for lips, I prefer a dark berry shade of lipstick. It adds a fun pop of color without being as high maintenance as a bright red lip.
