As a Destin photographer, most of my photo sessions take place on the beach, so it’s fun to try a new location every now and then. When this Santa Rosa Beach local reached out about an in-home newborn photo shoot, I was excited for this creative challenge! This sweet girl was two months old when we took her photos, so it was more of a lifestyle shoot rather than a typical newborn session where the baby is asleep and wrapped in swaddles and placed in baskets (which isn’t really my style).
Her nursery was white, bright and beautifully decorated! It had gorgeous natural light streaming through the windows which worked perfectly with my light, airy photography style. Every detail was carefully curated and included many special touches, like items that have been passed down through the family (hair brushes, rattles, bonnet and more!). It was a gorgeous mix of modern and traditional.
When I deliver galleries, I usually include black and white photos in addition to color. It’s interesting how this difference can drastically effect the feel and emotions of the image. As you’ll notice below, the black and white ones have a more nostalgic, timeless feel. You focus on the connection between the baby and the parents rather than being distracted by colors. It’s hard to decide which version I like best, so I typically give both to clients!
