Looking for a recipe that will use up all of those leftover candy canes? These chocolate spoons are perfect for adding to a cup of cocoa or coffee during the last couple months of winter. Plus they are so easy to make! On one of my baking days in December I had extra melted chocolate after making my mom’s shortbread cookies, so I dipped gold plastic spoons to make a chocolatey treat. I sprinkled them with crushed candy canes to add a nice peppermint flavor and to create a festive look. My intent was to stir a cup of cocoa with them, but honestly I just ate most of them straight out of the fridge when I was craving chocolate. One word of warning: if you use metal spoons, let the chocolate soften enough and pop it out before eating, otherwise that’s a chipped tooth waiting to happen. I didn’t learn this from experience, thankfully, but I was about to take a bite when my husband pointed out how hazardous that could be. Good thing I have him looking out for me—and our dentist bills!
These chocolate spoons also make for a really cute gift. You could add them to a plate with an assortment of Christmas cookies and peanut butter balls or wrap them individually with cellophane and a ribbon. I know the holidays are over, but winter definitely is not! Instead of candy canes you could use Valentine’s Day sprinkles and place them in a cute mug with hot cocoa mix for a festive “galentines” gift (I know my girlfriends and I would be more excited about it than my husband). I found this JOY mug at Homegoods, but I also find stylish ones at Homegoods, Target and World Market. Below are some of my favorites. I’m thinking the pink and gold “Hello Gorgeous” mug would be so cute for future recipe photos!

Those look so good. I’ve actually seen these for sale here and there and always thought it would be easy to diy. I’m not much of a hot drinker but I’d certainly snack on them as is!
